Frequently Asked Questions

Although most of our students have been very successful with the help of our Spanish classes, we cannot guarantee that ALL students will achieve the results that they are aiming at.

Our track record of success though is impressively high. If you do not believe us, please take some time to read the testimonials that current and former students have posted over time on independent reviews sites such as Google Reviews or Yelp.

Students increase their chances of achieving the results that they are aiming at by:

  • Attending all of their classes on time
  • Coming to their classes well rested
  • Self-studying at least the same number of hours per week than the weekly hours that they meet with their Spanish tutor

You will be meeting with one of our Native Spanish speaking tutors on private sessions to last anywhere between 1 to 4 hours. During this time you will go through as many real-life exercises as possible, stopping every so often to discuss possible points of improvement.

When an exercise is not responded correctly, your tutor will assist you:

  • Identifying the exact place where you made a mistake and giving you an opportunity to correct yourself first
  • Giving you hints of what you need to consider to get the right response
  • Providing you with the correct answer if the hint is not enough
  • Explaining you why that is the correct answer and why the others are not quite right
  • Practicing with you with similar exercises created on the spot
  • Referring you to sections on our online student center where you can review related theory that could help you review concepts where weaknesses are identified

The number of hours of classes per week that you should have depends on how urgent your need to learn Spanish is. Most of our students meet with us anywhere between 2 to 16 hours per week.

All sessions will be a minimum of 1-hour long and a maximum of 4-hours long. You can choose the length within these ranges as well as the number of times per week that you would like to meet, subject to our availability.

In addition, to take most advantage of the program, students are usually expected to study at home on their own the same number of hours per week that they meet with their instructor to read in advance what they will be working with on the next class and to do related homework that is accessible through our online student center, provided to our students 24x7 at no extra cost.

The number of months that you will need to invest in preparing for a test depends on:

  • what your starting level is,

  • the score you would like to achieve on your test,

  • the complexity of the test, and

  • the number of hours per week that you can dedicate to your preparation.

We offer 10 levels of instruction: 4 beginner, 3 intermediate and 3 advanced. We label our levels of proficiency by color, from Pearl Belt (Beginner 1) to Black Belt (Advanced 3).

The quickest you can get ready for a test is by having private classes for a total of 16 hours of classes per week. At that pace, if starting from scratch, you can complete the 10 levels of proficiency that we offer in 2.5 months. This pace though is not possible for most people as it is considered a full time commitment. Therefore for most people it will take a much longer timeframe.

Average students complete the equivalent of a full level of instruction after meeting with their Spanish tutor for 16 hours. Normally, students will note a significant improvement after completion of each 16-hour package they purchase.

Each level can be completed in as little as 1 week if you study 16 hours per week or as long as 16 weeks if you study with us only one hour a week.

As a general example, completing each of these levels will take:

  • 2 months if attending classes just 2 hours per week

  • 1 month if attending classes 4 hours per week

  • 2 weeks if attending classes 8 hours per week

  • 1 week if attending classes 16 hours per week

As an specific example, for the DELE Exam, one of the most complete and difficult tests to take in Spanish, we expect that you will need:

  • at least 32 hours of training with us to pass the A1 DELE exam; high chances of success if having completed our Pearl and Cream Belt courses (Beginner 1 and 2)

  • at least 32 additional hours to pass the A2 DELE exam (at least a total of 64 hours if starting from scratch); high chances of success if having completed our Orange Belt course (Beginner 4)

  • at least 16 additional hours to pass the B1 DELE exam (at least a total of 80 hours if starting from scratch); high chances of success if having completed our Green Belt course (Intermediate 1)

  • at least 16 additional hours to pass the B2 DELE exam (at least a total of 96 hours if starting from scratch); high chances of success if having completed our Light Blue Belt course (Intermediate 2)

  • at least 32 additional hours to pass the C1 DELE exam (at least a total of 128 hours if starting from scratch); high chances of success if having completed our Purple Belt course (Advanced 1)

  • at least 32 additional hours to pass the C2 DELE exam (at least a total of 160 hours if starting from scratch); high chances of success if having completed our Black Belt course (Advanced 3)

The total number of hours or levels that you need to purchase all depends on what your starting level is and the score you would like to achieve on your test.

If you are a student new to the language, you may be required to complete:

  • at least three packages of 16 hours to obtain a passing score

  • at least six packages of 16 hours to obtain a good score

  • nine packages of 16 hours to obtain an excellent score.

You can get started by just purchasing one package of 16 hours, or several if you want to benefit from our volume discounts.

  • You will be using real practice exercises that have been compiled by our school over the course of the years.
  • You will invest most of your time practicing with exercises typical to the type of test that you will be preparing for (If the test were not to include, for example, a verbal component, we will not waste valuable time improving your verbal skills).
  • You will have access to this material 24x7 through our online student center that will be accessible by you at no extra cost.

Our tutors are not only native Spanish speakers, but also have the skills required to teach the language effectively, and the flexibility and smartness to be able to tailor your class to prepare you for any standardized test.

All of our tutors, no matter whether they come from Latin America or Spain, are perfectly capable of guiding our students in a way that maximizes the chances of achieving a high score on their exam, whichever that exam is. Please note that all standardized tests have a lot in common. What varies between them is the level of complexity of their questions, the format in which the questions are asked and whether they have all skills components (grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, and speaking) or just some of them. We have an excellent track record preparing students for all standardized tests. Our students do pass and achieve the scores that they are looking for provided that they are committed to the process.

All of our Spanish tutors are cream of the crop. They are highly educated, carefully screened and extensively trained in the science and art of tutoring Spanish with our method. They are also energetic, enthusiastic and strongly passionate about teaching and sharing their culture.

Yes, you can join a Small Group, just be aware that the material covered in this class format will not cover material specific for any exam. These small groups, even though they will cover Everyday Conversational Spanish and not Industry-specific Spanish, will still provide significant value at a reduced cost, especially considering that, at the beginning, there is a lot of basic material that needs to be addressed first.

  • To access a current list of all small groups available, please click here.

We are unfortunately unable to match individual students interested in preparing for a standardized test together. It is the student himself who enrolls in private one-on-one classes or self-assembles his own group with friends and colleagues that share the same level, interests, timing and schedule preferences. Our language school cannot introduce students to any self-assembled private group. These groups are conformed by students who value their privacy significantly and already feel comfortable with one another.

Yes. We can help students of all ages.

If your child is younger than 8 years of age, the participation of a parent will be required for the full length of the class.
