Choose your class size

Just gather friends, relatives or colleagues up to a limit of 12 students per group.

The size of the group that we would recommend would be anywhere between 2 and 4 students. This size would allow you to still benefit from a lot of opportunity to participate actively in class.

Share the experience with your children

Although our learning materials are specifically designed for the needs of adults and teens 13 and up, younger students may be admitted as an exception.

Groups where there is a student younger than 8 years old will require the participation of at least one parents in class.

Although normally one term of 16 hours is sufficient to complete one full level of instruction, some students may choose to cover material at a faster or slower pace than the one that is recommended or expected.

  • If they go faster, they may get started already with the next level if they still have remaining hours unused.

  • If they go slower, they would just purchase extra terms or hours to resume where they left.

If your schedule changes regularly, you can consider instead having your classes on a floating schedule which allows you to agree with your tutor on a week-by-week basis on when to have your next session, subject to the times/days that tutor has available in the given week.

There may be weeks when you may not be able to find a mutually convenient time/day but a floating schedule would not restrict you with an expiration date as tight as the one you would have with regular classes. Classes will still expire if unused within a reasonable period of time to be defined case by case.

Private groups may allow you to emphasize on any specific preferences or industry needs after covering some of the basics of the language.

In general, the bigger the class size the fewer times per week the group should meet. This is because the more students in the class the more difficult it is for all to reserve the same times and days week after week.

As a rule of thumb, if the group is composed of 4 or more students, we recommend meeting just once a week on a 2-hour-long session. At this pace it will take the group 8 weeks to complete each of our levels. You may however meet up to 16 hours per week if desired.

The total number of hours per week that you should consider enrolling for depends on how urgent your need to learn Spanish is.

There are 10 levels of instruction: 4 beginner, 3 intermediate and 3 advanced. We label our levels by color, from Pearl Belt (Beginner 1) to Black Belt (Advanced 3).

Note that students are expected to study at home on their own the same number of hours per week that they meet with their instructor to read in advance what they will be working with in the next class, and to do related homework. If students cannot study and do homework at home, we could do these at-home activities in class instead. If doing so, twice as many hours will be required to be purchased to complete a level.

Average students complete a full level of instruction after meeting with their Spanish tutor for 16 hours.

The only requirement for self-assembling your own private group is that you all participants have the same level Spanish, or very similar. Students with lower levels than the other members in a group may be acepted but in this case the level of the class will be adjusted to the level of the students with the least functional knowledge of the language.

If you do not share the same level of Spanish proficiency, you may want to consider:

Although our learning materials are specifically designed for the needs of adults and teens 13 and up, younger students may be admitted as an exception as long as the minimum age is observed.

  • Participants for classes conducted in person need to beΒ ...

    • at least 13 years old if no parent is present

    • At least 6 years old if one parent is present

  • Participants for classes conducted live online need to be...

    • At least 8 years old if no parent is presentΒ

    • At least 6 years old if one parent is present

What we can recommend for families with younger children is to self-assemble your own private group for adults and teens and pass your knowledge along to your younger children, or simply wait until they turn the minimum age so that you can all join at the same time.

Please keep in mind that we specialize in adult education and that our methodology, instruction, and materials are tailored towards the needs of adults and not to that of children. By signing up, you understand that we cannot dedicate time or resources to develop training materials for children and that the material for adults will be used under your supervision and will be your sole responsibility.

If you do not know any people with whom you can take Spanish classes together, consider joining one of our semi-private small groups that our school assembles. These small groups, even though they will cover Everyday Conversational Spanish and not Industry-specific Spanish, will still provide significant value at a reduced cost, especially considering that at the beginning stage there is a lot of basic material that needs to be addressed first (also covered in these classes).

  • To access a current list of all available semi-private small groups assembled by our school, please click here.

  • If you want to still focus all of your education on a specific industry, please consider instead having one-on-one classes.

Private groups, because of their closed nature, unfortunately do not accept other students. Private groups are self-assembled by students who already know each other, such as in the case of a family, a group of friends, or colleagues at a company.

In general terms, the bigger the group you assemble the less each student would end up paying. Note however that the smaller the group the more chance you have to participate in class and therefore the fastest you can improve your conversational skills.

Just one of you would need to submit an application on behalf of the group (or one different person for each of the different groups, if assembling multiple groups). Please be aware that it may take us up to 5 business days to reply to your application.

If your group is bigger than 12 students, you can consider splitting the group into smaller private groups.

If you are interested in Spanish classes for multiple groups, instead of sending multiple applications, one for each, just send one for your average-size group and mention on it that you are interested in several groups similar to this one.
